Operation Rainbow

Founded in 1978, Operation Rainbow is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to performing free orthopedic surgeries for indigent children in developing countries who lack access to necessary medical procedures or equipment.

In a one-year period, approximately 4,000 children and adults receive medical or surgical intervention from the Operation Rainbow teams. In addition, on all missions, Operation Rainbow provides medical care to patients with a variety of conditions that could not be treated by their local hospital, either due to a lack of resources or an inability to make a diagnosis.

The tremendous need for Operation Rainbow's healing capacity is emphasized every time we visit a community hospital in a developing country. Repeatedly, we are faced with cases such as Manuela a child who is unable to walk normally or go to school.

When an Operation Rainbow team helps to save even one child's life, we bring relief to an entire community. We ease the burden of their parents, siblings, and extended family.

Doctor Atkin has proudly served as President of Operation Rainbow for 22 years and has led over 70 missions to Central and South America, the Philippines, and Armenia.
