SOMA Orthopedics is committed to excellence in orthopedic care. Our expert physicians offer leading-edge patient care through the integration of orthopedic surgery, physiatry and pain management. We provide an array of treatment options to improve mobility and reduce pain, using medication and physical rehabilitation, as well as surgery and complete joint replacement. With the latest minimally-invasive surgical techniques, we repair joints and brittle bones. Patients receive comprehensive, attentive care for conditions such as arthritis, joint pain, sports injuries, spinal problems, osteoporosis, and compression fractures..

SOMA Orthopedics is an active contributor to Operation Rainbow including a part of our profits and individual volunteering by our physicians and staff.

Orthopedic Surgery:

Our surgeons are experts in the latest minimally-invasive techniques, which involve smaller incisions to promote faster, less painful recovery. We offer:

  1. General orthopedic surgery.
  2. Joint replacement surgery for shoulders, hips and knees.
  3. Arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder.

Pain Management:

Our multi-disciplinary team includes pain management specialists who treat patients experiencing chronic pain and work with them on techniques to help them cope. We understand that ongoing pain can cause frustration, fear, anger, depression, and anxiety. Chronic pain can often be successfully managed to improve a patient’s quality of life through a combination of medication management, interventional techniques, cognitive behavioral health, and alternative medicine.

Range of disorders treated include:

  1. Spine disorders: back and neck pain, including herniated discs, spinal stenosis, post surgical syndromes, and tumors.
  2. Pain due to arthritis.
  3. Complex regional pain syndrome (also known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy or RSD)
  4. Disorders of the nervous system, including shingles, and peripheral nerve injuries
  5. Cancer pain
  6. Intractable spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injuries.

Numerous interventional techniques are used to control pain and diagnose disorders, including epidurals, injections and other drug delivery systems, nerve blocks, spinal cord stimulation, as well as surgical procedures.

Physiatry:

Physiatrists are specially trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation and the non-surgical management of conditions affecting muscles and bones. The focus is on pain relief, restoring flexibility and building strength with the goal being to restore function. Each patient receives an individualized prescription for therapeutic exercise and takes an active role in the rehabilitation process.

We work closely with community practitioners to combine traditional treatment with other approaches such as: Tai Chi, Acupuncture, Pilates, Yoga, Chiropractic, and Osteopathic medicine

Specific treatment plans are developed following thorough diagnostic screening and assessment of each patient’s needs and the options available.
